7:00 p.m.: doors open and we’ll screen a program of trailers curated especially for us by Jake Perlin of the Film Desk including Truffaut’s THE BRIDE WORE BLACK, MISSISSIPPI MERMAID (note that Catherine Deneuve’s costumes in the film were designed by Yves Saint Laurent), MONSIEUR VERDOUX, and more.
7:30 p.m.: welcome and introduction from co-hostesses Lauren Cerand and Brittney Canty and short readings by Daniel Levine, whose HYDE explores another side of one of Victorian London’s most notorious personages; Marc Pastor, a real-life crime scene investigator in town from Barcelona who turns his writerly gaze onto a female serial killer in BARCELONA SHADOWS; and Peter von Ziegesar whose debut, The Looking Glass Brother: A Memoir tells “The Preposterous, Moving, Hilarious, and Frequently Terrifying Story of My Gilded Age Long Island Family, My Philandering Father, and the Homeless Stepbrother Who Shares My Name.”
8:15 p.m.: Master Michael Quinn and Jeff Allyn Szwast (of The Beriberi) will close the night with a short set of torch songs.
