Please join us Tuesday January 21st at 6:30pm for SLEEP, a presentation by Phoebe Berglund, current Artist-In-Residence at Wythe Hotel. Berglund will share images of her recent international dance tour where she slept in hotels in Shanghai, Helsinki, Vienna, Mexico City, Brussels, Manchester and NYC. She will discuss sleep as part of her creative practice, sleep as a refuge from capitalism, the sleeper as a character in her dances, sleep as an action in dance scores, sleep walking, trance states in performance and her own private somatic practice.
Phoebe Berglund is an artist based in NYC. She earned her MFA at Hunter College and is the recipient of the Leutz/Reidel Fellowship at the Universitat der Kunst Berlin. Her work has been presented at MoMA PS1, Storm King Art Center, Lubov Gallery, The Center for Performance Research, Movement Research at Judson Church, Boghossian Foundation Villa Empain Brussels, NADA NY, Material Art Fair Mexico City.
